NetDirect made available Pinned Sites, novelty from IE 9, to hundreds of thousands Internet users [Press release, 15 March 2011]
Ostrava, 15 March 2011 – As the first provider of e-shop systems in the Czech Republic, NetDirect prepared its solutions for Pinned Sites from Microsoft. This Internet Explorer 9’s function enables Windows 7 users to have their favourite web sites and various applications “pinned” on the taskbar.
NetDirect has implemented FastCentrik and ShopCentrik modules into its e-shop systems. This modules enable e-shop providers to edit task list and list of links of the “pinned” site.
Release of the component together with Internet Explorer 9, that supports the “pinned” sites, demonstrates that NetDirect promptly reacts to news appearing on the IT market and that it is a pioneer of innovations in the field of electronic commerce.
Pinned Sites: Revolution in surfing on the Internet?
Released in the Czech Republic on the 15th of March, Internet Explorer 9 promises to facilitate work with the Internet. One of the new Internet Explorer functions are Pinned Sites which are available to Windows 7 users. Pinned Sites allow quick access to your favourite websites and make it easier to use them.
To pin a website you need to take the bookmark with a particular website and pin it up to the Windows 7 taskbar or to the Start menu.
In the world, Pinned Sites are used for example by the biggest e-shop Amazon.com, in the Czech Republic it is used for example by Astratex.cz, an online lingerie store.
Pinned Sites make using the Internet faster
After right-clicking on the pinned site icon attached to the taskbar, a task lisk and a list of links appears. These can be used in the accelerated mode; we can go for example to the “Last visited” section or “Discounts” or to check the status of our order. Online stores providers – NetDirect clients – can edit these lists themselves.
Pinned sites also use a website thumbnail preview function. Each button represents a command which can be run on the Internet, such as play video or add to Facebook. The user can thus control the website even if it is minimized without having to open it.

Jan Svoboda, considers Pinned Sites as a very beneficial function thanks to which the ShopCentrik and PastCentrik platforms are moving one step further: “Thanks to the trial version of IE 9 Release Candidate, e-shops could test the pinned sites functionality. Microsoft studies demonstrate their effect on increasing attendance and turnover, and that is why we have decided to provide our clients with the advantages of Pinned Sites. We want to demonstrate to them that they have chosen a provider who cares about their success.”
